Foster with ARF

Home » Foster with ARF

Thank you for considering fostering a dog from ARF. Please fill out this application completely. The application is designed to assist the in finding matching you with a foster dog that is suitable to your lifestyle.

Please remember many of these dogs were stray or abandoned. We guess on their breed and often do not know their heritage. Please do not expect your new foster dog to be perfect. Although all of our animals are thoroughly evaluated, we cannot guarantee their health or temperament. We recommend using the 3-3-3 rule: the first three days should be used for adjusting to their new surroundings, the next three weeks for training and bonding, and the first three months for continued socialization and training. A rescued dog is forever grateful for being a loved part of your family.

In order to be considered as a foster care provider today, you must:

  • Be 21 years of age or older.
  • Have identification showing your present address.
  • Have the knowledge and consent of all adults living in your household to foster for ARF.
  • Provide documentation from your landlord or the person owning the premises in which the animal will be kept that you are allowed to have a dog in your home (upon request).
  • Commit to providing the appropriate level of exercise for the breed/dog.
  • Understand that this application is the property of ARF Humane Society of Jackson County and will be retained in its files.
  • Understand that ARF Humane Society of Jackson County has full authority to approve or deny your application.
  • Understand that ARF Humane Society of Jackson County reserves the right to verify all information submitted on this application.
  • Understand that you may not transfer care of any animal acquired from ARF Humane Society of Jackson County to another party.

Please note: ARF does not foster our dogs in homes where there are unfixed animals.
